shared housingWhen it comes to retirement and living your life over the age of 50, 60, or 70, one of the most important things you can do is control your costs.

You’ve worked hard and saved all your life, but after retirement, you’ve got to watch your pennies.

You can’t just spend money like it’s going out of style.

While some costs you can’t control, like medical care and taxes, others you can control.

When you have the ability to track, record, and manage your spending, it empowers seniors. Taking control of these parts of your life are very important.

One of the hardest things to realize is your housing costs can quickly get out of control.

That said, there are ways to tame that lion.

Many seniors move into senior care facilities… but often those are expensive and have the “Not my home” problem. It’s when seniors move in and they don’t feel like its home. Often they feel put away.

Another issue is living alone.

If you have any type of serious medical problem, living alone can be a bad news situation. You need the camaraderie of a partner or friend who can help you if you get into trouble.

This is where senior shared housing comes into play.

There are a number of senior housing matching services also known as senior roommate services out there…

Just do a quick Google Search on “senior home sharing programs”.

These were three I found right away:

It’s a great way for people with homes to find roommates, and for those looking for a more inexpensive place to live, to make a connection.

It’s a win, win, win.
